The Indy 500 and Memorial Day weekend is over, back to work slackers. . This is Bill Vukovich and his wife Esther after Vuky won the 1953 Indianapolis 500. He went on to win back to back Indy 500’s in 53 and 54 but was killed in 1955, while he was set to win the race. With a 17 second lead on lap 57 a chain reaction crash happened that ultimately took his life. . . Vuky was considered the best racer America had ever seen, and is widely regarded as so still. Unfortunately we will never know, although his accomplishments still stand the test of time showing him to be a true forgotten legend. #Indy500 #History
